Flowering crab apples are often missed as bonsai subject probably because they do not live as long as some species. Nevertheless, the flowers are spectacular in the Spring and the apples give some colour well into early winter. Birds permitting of course.

Here I tried to grow a matching pair which I subsequently changed my mind as the effect never really met expectations. Anyway it is always worth experimenting.
