With permission you can sometime source plants in the wild. This was collected under licence from an area of heathland that was due for clearance.

Pines are considered the epitomy of bonsai and rightly so. They should be tackled with some experience under the belt because any mistakes are difficult to correct. This is because there is geneally only one flush of growth per year and therefore building branch a structure will take much longer than deciduous varieties.

This twin trunk scots pine was growing like this when collected. It has been wired once already to position the branches and now will be pruned gradually to keep it compact.
